Akua Agyeman is a native of Chicago, raised and deeply rooted in the Ghanaian community. She has served the community as the Mentorship and Education Coordinator for the Adinkra Association, 2011 Miss Ghana-USA where her platform was cultural retention, a proud member of the Asanteman Association of Chicago, Youth Secretary of the Ghana National Council of Chicago, and the founder of BlackStar Seed Nation. BlackStar Seed Nation is an organization that exposes youth to Ghanaian culture.
Akua has also worked as a Social Worker for the past 5 years, a rapper under the alias Sista ELLA, and dances with the Maraba Dance Ensemble.
Nancy Asirifi-Otchere is the Program Director at United African Organization (UAO), a dynamic coalition of African community-based organizations that promote social and economic justice, civic participation and empowerment of African immigrants and refugees in Illinois.
In her role, she advocates for individuals and families to access health care, safety-net programs, and public benefits. She holds a Master of Science in Business Administration, International Management from the University of Southern Denmark, and a Bachelor of Arts, Management and Sociology from the University of Ghana.
